Anyone go to Space Camp?

Did anyone else on here attend Space Camp (or Aviation Challenge) in Huntsville Alabama? I did in September 1999. I was in Space Academy on Team Ganomeed or however you spell it. The whole thing was a really fun experience. I brought this mini tape recorder which I was annoying people with all week. (the girls in my dorm totally hated me at the end) I was CapCom in the first mission (completely freaked out), and worked the space station in the second, if you can call sitting around talking baseball and occasionally doing experiments work. I loved the History of Spaceflight but our team completely blew the Space Bowl. We did get the Team Spirit award though, which made all my cheering and screaming worth it. How about you? Anyone else participate in this program and do you have any good stories?

Hey:
I attended Space Camp in September 2000. I was on some team that started with a G. The building that we stayed in was so cool! (all these floors that were made out of metal and such.) I got homesick the first day, and teased by my roomies for it.
My favorite story: watching some idiot kid drinking hot coffee out of a coffee stir-er and a person I had been sitting across from dropping food because he thought it was funny.
The space shot was awesome.

I went in... hmmm. Must have been 2001, as it was just after 9/11.
I had an awesome time!! I want to go back, some year.
I think my favorite story was on my first mission, when me and a few other members of my team did a simulated space walk. When we returned to the orbiter (proper term for what some call the shuttle), it was already landing!!
Later, when we were going through to get dinner I said, "...so this is heaven?" Someone, who was aware of my struggles with the catholic concept of pergatory said, "No. You weren't that good. This is pergatory."

Hey I went to Space Camp in 2004 and I loved it! I think my favourite moment was when I was doing the Spacewalk and the person who was helping me build that wierd thing halfway up the wall decided to bail on me on the grounds that he was afraid of heights. In the process of getting himself back down, he accidentally kicked me so that I flew back from the wall. Once he was back on the ground, he started singing "I know a song that'll get on your nerves" to distract me. I still love him, though. Yeah, just thought I'd share that one. Christina x

You guys are making me feel old. Geez! I went to space camp in 1996, and then Advanced Academy in 1997. Advanced was fun because we got to do the scuba activity, as well as the EDM, which was a six-hour mission. It was technically called the Extended Duration Mission, but more commonly known as the Everybody Dies Mission. I've been Capcom, commander of the shuttle, and a few other things. The most notable thing we did was blow up the toilet on the orbitor. LOL! Dan Oates is such an awesome man!

I went in 05 also. I was on the Von Bron team. My friend and I went there on a private plane. It was really cool.

Hell yeah I went to Space camp! It was awesome. I miss it. I totally wouldn't mind going back. I believe I got to be Capcom in one of the missions. Damn reading all the posts brings back memories. Lets see, I think I was a Freshman, or maybe just sophmore in Highschool. So that had to be umm, either two thousand or ninety nine. I remember the metal rooms too, they rocked. lol And I got shit from my roommates too who wer from like iriland. And they teased me the first morning when I was waking up cause I liked this kid at the time named brawny so yeah that had to be ninety nine. haha Anyway they wer joking and saying I was probably dreaming about him and yeah. I met this kid named Eric who was a dwarf who flirted with me and I had a little crush on him and oh man. Ah. Space Camp. Fun times. I loved the space shot too! And the jet pack and all the flying non gravity stuff. It was so awesome. lol

I wish I could have gone. How were you chosen to go?

I went thrice: In 1996, 1998, and 2000. I wanted to do Advanced Academy, but by the time I knew about it, the school for the blind had stopped taking people--and, more importantly, paying for people to go. lol

That sucks, but at least you were able to go.
